An interest group pertains to a group of individuals who claim to represent a specific interest and try to advocate or impede a particular public policy by the Government. It may be well organized or a loosely knit group. It is important to take note of the fact that when the functional aspect of an interest group is taken into consideration, there exists a very close relation between the Government and that of the group. The Government remains the consistent point of influence for the interest group because it aims at bringing about certain changes which can only take place through successful exercise of influence via different measures.
